Caught on camera

This is not the first time that a very suspicious act has been recorded on camera. The purported video, shared on Twitter by PTI’s official account, showed some parliamentarians sitting before and counting stacks of cash reportedly ahead of the Senate elections in 2018. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Sultan Khan tendered his resignation from the provincial cabinet, minutes after the chief minister tweeted that he had asked him to do so over his alleged appearance in the purported video.

The incident has a curious ring to it as in 2018 the PTI had expelled 20 of its members after they were found guilty of accepting Rs.50 million for horse-trading in the 2018 Senate polls by an investigation committee. In an obvious reaction, both sides of the political divide are drawing completely opposite inferences from the issue. It is certainly not difficult to find out the reason for such a puerile piece of drama that has caused a public storm.

In the prevailing atmosphere of planted news such occurrences have become commonplace but no one comes forward to explain who is their main beneficiary though many can easily deduce the reality. TW
