The world is full of surprising details that are not only interesting but also provoke further curiosity. One consistent feature of human curiosity pertains to the animal kingdom and human mind is fascinated by this sphere of living activity. People are quite attuned to the presence of many animals and some are very popular such as lions, elephants, dogs and monkeys but there are so many underappreciated species that do not come to prominence and many people are unaware of their presence. Spread across the four corners of the Earth are strange and intriguing creatures that often exceed human imagination, exhibiting shapes and colours that only Mother Nature could design. Some of such creatures are not pretty-looking yet have a presence that is attractive in its content.
Axolotl is such a species. Even the best animated designs-makers could not have designed a more attractive creature. Actually known as the Mexican salamander, or Mexican walking fish, it resembles a slightly neglected rag doll. This is a perfect reminder of the vagaries of Human Nature that is enticing in the extreme.

Grimpoteuthis is nicknamed the Dumbo octopus in a nod to Disney’s flying elephant, this extraordinary looking animal has a pair of protruding ear-like fins attached to its head, and is armed with eight tentacles.
Star-nosed mole is a species that is definitely weird looking but its nose serves an important purpose. Moles have terrible vision, so the nose helps them to feel things. Venezuelan poodle moth is a species of moth which is found in Venezuela, and it especially intrigued scientists because of its furry legs.
Red-lipped batfish is a curious animal that looks like it is ready for a night out. Native to the Galapagos Islands, this species is also known for being able to “walk” on the seabed, using its fins as extra pairs of legs.
Mantis shrimp is a colourful crustacean and is one of the most intriguing animals in the world. The small beady-eyed creature is actually an accomplished predator, and literally clubs its prey to death. Shoebill is also known as a whalehead stork and this bird has some similar characteristics to a stork and a toucan, and can be found in Sudan and Zambia. TW
